Alex Stopa holds a Bachelor of Music in percussion performance from the Elder Conservatorium in his hometown of Adelaide, Australia and a Master of Music from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Alex has performed with many diverse ensembles including the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Nevada Pops, NEXTET New Music Ensemble and with such artists as Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Bill Molenhof, Mark Ford, Benjamin Toth, Naoko Takada and Scott Stevens.

Alex has been awarded prizes in numerous competitions, most recently 1st prize in the 2007 James Huntziger Concerto Competition and 3rd prize in the 2007 Reno Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition. Alex actively promotes new music and has premiered works by many composers including Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic and Paul Seitz. He has performed throughout Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, France, Japan, Hong Kong and the United States. His teachers include Keiko Abe, Dr. Dean Gronemeier, James Bailey, Bogdan Bácanu and Scott Stevens. Alex is currently a part-time instructor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts. Alex endorses Sabian Cymbals.
